# EV Scooters

A big frustration with EV scooters is that they are being built and sold like iphones. Batteries are not removable, firmware is closed-source and third-party repair is being killed.

There are some positive signs. After a long wait, [Ola EV has started making genuine parts and manuals available](https://x.com/bhash/status/1982708635445928022) to customers and third-party mechanics. Now, the ball is in court of competitors like Ather, Bounce etc.
